Family Literacy Day takes place every January 27th to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities as a family. This year’s theme is “Make Mealtime Family Learning Time”.
Since 1999, schools, libraries, literacy organizations and other community groups across Canada have taken part in week-long literacy events, and this year our Hornets will participate in some exciting activities that will help our school community celebrate!
Please see the attached document which outlines the events for each day. Mr. Hunter has also extended an invitation to students to challenge themselves to go ‘screen-free’ for Literacy Week. Pledge forms will be available at the office or from classroom teachers for those who wish to participate and earn a chance to win the grand prize: lunch with our principal!
